Whitley 72 Hour Release Window
No authoritative Whitley source in the research sweep offered a distinct releases-within-72-hours view, a recent-release filter, a guaranteed update cadence, or a public retention period. The official-linked county inmate portal is best read as a current-custody interface. It should not be renamed or presented as a three-day archive.
A three-day inquiry is still useful. It gives enough room to compare several dated sources when the expected event occurred late in the day, near a weekend, or when public systems refreshed at different times. Build a small timeline for the named person. Record each check, the source, the status returned, and any destination named by the facility. That method avoids turning a present roster into a release list it was not designed to be.
Check Whitley Three-Day Releases
Start with the exact three calendar dates at issue. If an event may have crossed midnight, include the adjacent date and ask for the facility’s recorded timestamp. Search each system for the same person, but do not expect all systems to cover the same custody stream.
- Search the Whitley live portal by exact name and reasonable variants. Date and time the result.
- Call Whitley County Detention Center at 606-549-6013 and ask whether the person left, when the movement posted, and whether another agency received custody.
- Search Kentucky VINELink for county and DOC entries. Read both when the same person appears twice.
- Check KOOL when a felony sentence, controlled intake, parole or probation matter, or state transfer may apply.
- Review Kentucky DOC Daily Releases for each relevant date only if state tracking is plausible.
- Ask the Whitley clerk for the docket and exact bond, dismissal, sentence, or revocation order.
- Submit a narrow open-records request for the person’s booking, release, and movement records across the named dates.
The Jail Releases: 24 Hours process is better for an event thought to have occurred today. The three-day method adds historical comparison and a tightly framed records request rather than simply repeating one live search.
Whitley 72 Hour Record Fields
A complete release record identifies the person and event, not just the fact that a card vanished. Ask for existing fields rather than demanding that the jail create a new “72-hour list.” The useful inventory ties the facility movement to its legal authority and destination.
| Field | How it helps across three days |
|---|---|
| Name, booking number, identifier | Keeps separate bookings and similar names apart. |
| Intake and release timestamps | Places the event on the correct date and shows a midnight crossover. |
| Release or movement type | Separates bond, time served, transfer, detainer, and other outcomes. |
| Releasing facility and agency | Shows which office made the event record. |
| Charge and court case | Connects the custody episode to the correct docket. |
| Order or bond reference | Identifies the authority linked to the movement. |
| Destination or receiving agency | Shows whether custody ended locally but continued elsewhere. |
| Photograph | May identify the booking episode, subject to exemptions and redaction. |
A court disposition can explain why a release was authorized. It does not prove the physical exit time, and it cannot rule out another hold. Pair it with the jailer’s recorded movement. When a transfer is shown, continue with the receiving system.
Whitley Weekend Release Checks
No official Whitley source documents a special weekend or holiday feed, a set release hour, or a rule that events will appear on the next business day. Do not promise any of those practices. The reason to use a 72-hour span is practical: several calendar dates can be checked together when an expected event falls outside a routine weekday records inquiry.
For each day, note whether the person appeared in the county portal, whether VINE issued a status, whether KOOL showed a location or supervision office, and whether a state Daily Releases PDF carried a matching state record. Then contact the facility for the exact movement. If the court clerk is closed, preserve the case number and request the docket and order when the office reopens.
When an entry appears later, the later public display does not necessarily change the physical event time. Use the movement timestamp in the originating record. Keep the access dates too, since public status screens can change.
Note: A three-day review helps reconcile dates, but no source guarantees when Whitley roster, court, VINE, or DOC updates will post.
Whitley Roster Retention Limits
The Cadmus portal’s public retention window is undocumented. Research found no official statement about how long a released card remains, whether old results can be filtered, or whether every release appears. That absence is important. A current no-result cannot be turned into proof of a release on one of the prior three days.
VINE is also a status and notification service, not a lasting historical archive. Kentucky reported false vendor-generated release alerts on February 3, 2026. Cross-check an alert with Whitley County Detention Center, KOOL, and the court. A person can have a local VINE record and a state DOC record at the same time, so an apparent duplicate can represent two custody streams.
KOOL retains qualifying former-offender information and can show a released or discharged status, a current prison or jail location, or a probation and parole office. It does not cover every brief Whitley booking. A local bond or misdemeanor release may never appear, while a state transfer can make the person disappear locally yet remain confined.
Whitley Release Destinations Matter
“Released from Whitley County Detention Center” describes departure from one building. It does not always mean return to the community. A transfer moves a person to another jail or to Kentucky DOC. A detainer can place the person with another authority. A court production is movement for a proceeding, not final release.
| Evidence | Likely reading | Next source |
|---|---|---|
| Bond or recognizance record | Left pretrial custody subject to court duties | Whitley court docket and jail timestamp |
| Time served or sentence complete | That custodial term ended | Check for other holds and destination |
| Transfer to state custody | County custody ended, confinement continues | KOOL and Kentucky DOC records |
| Probation or parole office | Community supervision may be active | KOOL and District 20 |
| Detainer destination | Another authority received the person | Receiving agency’s locator or record |
A final discharge means a state sentence ended as represented by DOC. Parole is earlier supervised release during a sentence. Probation comes from the court. These terms should not be used as synonyms for a county jail checkout.
Whitley DOC Date-by-Date Evidence
Kentucky DOC Daily Releases PDFs sometimes list Whitley County Detention Center as the physical releasing institution. The published columns include DOC number, name, release type, and felony class. When a matching row appears on one of the three dates, it offers strong event evidence for a DOC-tracked prisoner linked to the local facility.
Yet the PDF is not an all-county feed. It can omit local bond, dismissal, or misdemeanor events outside the state tracking stream. Read the printed release type and compare it with KOOL. Never infer that people absent from those PDFs stayed in jail, and never count a state list as a complete roster of Whitley releases.
If KOOL names a prison or county jail as the current location, the person remains confined. A supervising office suggests community supervision. A released or discharged record can support the end of state custody, but it does not exclude a new local or federal hold.
Request Whitley Three-Day Records
Use the Kentucky Attorney General’s standardized request form or another written request that meets the procedure in KRS 61.872. Address the request to the Whitley County Jailer for jail-held records. State the person’s name, known booking number, and the exact three-day span. Request existing booking, release, and movement records with timestamps, reasons, order references, and destinations.
Whitley County Detention Center is at 1439 KY-92 West, Williamsburg, KY 40769. Its listed phone is 606-549-6013. Calling first can clarify routing, but a written request creates a precise record of what was sought. Kentucky open-records procedure does not require an office to compile a custom list or answer an open-ended question.
For court support, the Whitley County Judicial Center is at 100 Main Street in Williamsburg. Circuit Court uses 606-549-2973 and District Court uses 606-549-5162. Ask for the docket and named order. The full Whitley County released inmates lookup explains how court, state, federal, and immigration sources fit together when the receiving custodian is unclear.
